Ancient Winery Calosso

Situated in the municipality of Costigliole d'Asti, among the hills that encircle the provinces of Asti, Cuneo, and Alessandria, in an area renowned for the quality of its vineyards, Morando Wine House is renowned throughout Italy for the quality of its wine production.

Having become increasingly significant over more than a century of activity, in 2010, the company acquired the brand and facility of the Ancient Social Winery of Calosso, preserving the operability of the agricultural cooperative of its producers.

The history

Officially established on 15th August 1904, in reality, the Ancient Social Winery of Calosso took its first steps in 1898 when agronomist Giuseppe Guaita founded a society with some Moscato di Calosso vine growers.

The company has quickly become, and still is, a reference point for the birth of Moscato, as demonstrated by the research project initiated by the Department of Agronomy at the University of Turin, titled "Historical Analysis of the Wine and Vine Reality in Calosso in the Land of Moscato."

In parallel, two other research projects were launched: "Science, Industry, and Agricultural Transformation in the Savoy Piedmont: the Birth of Italian Sparkling Wine" and "Signs of Integrity and Cultural Identity in the Moscato Wine Landscape for its Nomination as a World Heritage Site.
